1v1 Gate Game โ€” Football Drill

dribbling, 1v1, defending ยท U8+

Players are divided into pairs. There are several small gates on the field. The player with the ball tries to dribble the ball through the gate, while the defender tries to stop and win the ball. After a successful pass through the gate, the attacker immediately continues to the next freely chosen gate. The same gate cannot be used twice in a row.

1v1 Gate Game - football drill

The attacker bypasses with body feints and changes of direction, not just speed. The defender learns to read the attacker's movements and time the tackle.

When do you feint โ€” before the gate or right at the gate? If the defender covers the first gate, what is the backup plan? Defender: do you read the attacker's body or just the ball?
