Shadow defending — Football Drill

Defending, 1 vs 1

In pairs: the attacker dribbles the ball freely inside the grid, changing direction and speed. The defender follows the attacker’s movements like a mirror image, keeping roughly an arm’s-length distance, and does not try to win the ball.

Quality Factors

Keep the centre of gravity low, knees bent, weight on the balls of the feet and the body slightly side-on. The defender shows the attacker onto their weaker foot or towards the touchline.
