Second-wave layoff — Football Drill

Finishing, Attacking, Passing · U10+

Play a pass from the middle to the winger, who carries the ball to the far post area. The striker pulls the defender with him to the near post. When the defense has dropped toward the goal, the midfielder arrives late to the edge of the penalty area at the gate. The winger lays the ball back and the arriving player shoots directly off the pass. Goalkeeper at the goal. Start alternately from both sides.

Second-wave layoff - football drill

The second wave waits long enough until the defense has dropped toward the goal. An attacker who arrives too early will be standing next to the defender when the layoff comes. The layoff is played sharply along the ground through the gate. The shooter decides based on the situation: first time or with one touch.

When do you go toward the gate/line? Do you shoot first time or take a touch? Where does the striker pull the defender?
