finishing, attacking, passing ยท U9+
Two attackers break one defender on the flank and cross. The wide player passes inside to a teammate who comes to meet the ball, then turns toward goal. At the same time, the defender steps in from the opposite angle to pressure. The passer immediately runs around his teammate on the outside, between the penalty area and the touchline. From there he receives the ball back and crosses. The runs into the box are staggered: one goes to the near post, the other to the far post. The defender does not follow beyond the square. Start alternately from both sides. Alternatively, the wide player can solve the situation himself in a 1v1, either through the inside channel or along the touchline.
The ball carrier dribbles at full speed toward the defender so the defender has to make a decision. The timing of the run to get past is decisive. Post runs are staggered, not parallel โ near post and far post, if needed crossing over.
When do you go past your teammate? Which option does the defender leave open? Which post is yours?
