Attacking, Passing, Finishing

Description

The parallel run is a basic futsal movement: the wide player gets away behind their marker down the flank. The fixo and the wide player attack against two defenders and a goalkeeper. The wide player first moves diagonally towards the ball and takes the marker with them. Then they change direction and make an explosive run down the flank. At the same moment, the fixo plays a long ball along the flank into space behind the defender. The wide player dribbles inside and shoots towards the far post. The defenders play at half pace until the timing of the run and the pass works. If the reds win the ball, they get a point by dribbling it over the halfway line. Practise from both flanks.

Quality Factors

The wide player moves towards the ball so that the marker follows, then makes a run down the flank with a clear change of tempo and direction. The fixo recognises the marker's weight transfer and passes immediately as the run begins. The pass is played along the ground into space in front of the wide player. The wide player's first touch takes the ball in the direction of the run towards goal.

Key Questions

  • When does the fixo play the pass: before the run, during it or after it?
  • Where do you pass, to the wide player's feet or into their path?
