The attacker and defender start from opposite ends of the area. The coach plays the ball into the middle of the area, and both compete for it. Whoever wins the ball attacks the opponent's goal.
Whoever wins the ball takes their first touch away from the opponent and drives toward goal. The defender closes down quickly but in a controlled manner.
Where does the first touch go after winning the ball — away from the opponent? Do you attack immediately? Defender: are you closing down actively?
