Y Passing Pattern — Football Drill

passing, first_touch

Players position themselves in a Y-shaped pattern at three points. The ball is played through the stem to a branch, the receiver plays a wall pass or through ball to the next point and follows the ball. The pattern is repeated to both branches alternately.

The weight and timing of the pass are decisive. The receiver opens up toward the next passing direction before the ball arrives. Position-specific passing patterns become familiar.

Are you already open toward the next direction before receiving the ball? Do you play the pass into your teammate's run or to feet? Do you stay still after passing?
