Trio Warm-Up Passing 1/3 — Football Drill

passing, first_touch

Two players stand still 15-20 meters apart, each with a ball. The third works between them without a ball. The middle one moves towards the right player. He passes, and the middle one returns the ball straight back. Then he turns, runs to the other side, and does the same with the left player. Neither ball crosses the center line but stays with its respective wide player. The middle one does not stand still after the return but turns immediately. Change the middle player approximately every minute. The first rounds with two touches. Once the rhythm is found, the return is with one touch.

Movement to play before the pass: the middle one moves towards the ball, does not wait still. Support foot behind the ball and head up until the moment of impact. Impact point on the center of the ball with the inside of the foot, foot follow-through in the direction of the pass. Return goes straight back to the passer's foot. Turn immediately after the return, look in the opposite direction before the feet move.

When do you move towards the ball, before the pass or after? How does the passer recognize that you are ready to receive the ball? Where does your gaze go at the moment you return the ball? What happens to the accuracy of the return if your speed is too high?
