Scoring from a Cutback — Football Drill

finishing, passing, shooting

The drill starts with the movement of the red player, to whom the player in the middle aims to pass the ball. The red player takes control of the ball, circles around the cone near the goal line, and gives a cutback pass to the central player, who aims to shoot at the goal. The lines change after each execution.

The passer observes before the pass and plays a low, accurate inside-foot pass to the moving player. Reception on the move, first touch towards the cone and the goal line. Dribbling around the cone with short touches, head up and using peripheral vision to observe the goal area. Cutback low and diagonally back, supporting foot behind the ball and foot follow-through in the direction of the pass. Head up until the moment of impact, so you can see where the central player is coming. In the shot, timing the movement so that you reach the ball while in motion; supporting foot behind the ball, impact on the center of the ball, preferably with the first touch.

Where should the final pass be directed in relation to the goalkeeper and the cone's protection, and why low? Will you shoot with the first touch or take control, which determines the choice?
