Line Passing 2/3 — Football Drill

passing, first_touch

Four players in a line, 5–10 meters apart, each position marked. The ball always passes the nearest player. The top player plays a long ball over the first middle player to the second middle player, who has opened up to the side. This player drops the ball with one touch back to the bypassed player, who has meanwhile opened up to the other side of the line, and the bypassed player plays a long ball to the lowest player again over the middle player. At the end, the middle players return to their marks and the same happens back the other way, opening up to opposite sides. The bypassed player starts moving before the long pass is given.

Line Passing 2/3 - football drill

Look before the pass to see which option is open: nearest or farther. In a long pass, the support foot is behind the ball and the follow-through goes in the direction of the pass, firmness according to distance. The body does not reveal the target of the pass before impact. Drop with one touch, the foot flexes and the ball remains playable. The bypassed player opens up to the other side of the line before the drop comes.

When is the long pass open over the nearest player, and when is it not? How do you adjust the firmness of the pass when the distance doubles? When do you drop with one touch and when do you control? Where do you move before the drop comes to you?
