Area Play — Football Drill

possession, small_sided_games, passing

The aim is to keep the ball under the control of one's own team within a defined area. Variations may include some players being outside the area and/or the presence of a joker who is always on the side of the team with the ball.

Area Play - football drill

- First touch in the direction of play — the ball is controlled in a way that the next pass is possible immediately - Opening the body before receiving the ball — the player looks at the field situation before the touch - Timing and accuracy of the pass — the ball moves faster than the player, so unnecessary touches slow down - Offering support — players without the ball are constantly moving into passing lanes - Forming triangles — there are always at least two passing options for the player with the ball

- In which direction do you take your first touch? Why? - When is it advisable to pass with one touch and when with two? - What do you do immediately after you have passed the ball?
